Offers $10 million for info on Iranian allegedly behind cyberattacks on critical infrastructure

The U.S. State Department has posted a $10 million reward for information on the whereabouts of a senior Iranian official, Amir Yaryab, whom U.S. officials allege leads the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Cyber-Electronic Command (IRGC-CEC). Officials accused Yaryab of directing multiple Iranian hacking groups targeting “critical infrastructure sectors” including defense, news, shipping, travel (hotels and airlines), energy, and financial and telecommunications systems across the United States, Europe and the Middle East. The department said Yaryab also oversees groups such as CyberAv3ngers, Dadeh Afzar Arman (DAA) and Mehrsam Andisheh Saz Nik (MASN), which it says used malware against civilian infrastructure worldwide. The reward follows earlier State Department action, including a separate $10 million offer tied to CyberAv3ngers.
