Hackers claim leak of sensitive details on thousands of DHS workers
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is investigating after hackers claimed they stole and leaked sensitive personal information covering tens of thousands of current and former employees, including some tied to covert and sensitive missions. A DHS spokesperson told CNN the agency is aware of a potential breach and is working to respond quickly. A source familiar with the incident said data for some undercover personnel was exposed. The leak was obtained by a hacktivist group called the Department of Peace, and the anti-secrecy group Distributed Denial of Secrets published it online on Wednesday, according to its statement. CNN’s preliminary review found at least some DHS-related information accurate, including phone numbers and supervisory assignments, and it also included data linked to at least three ICE and Border Patrol officers involved in shootings during the second Trump administration.
