Hyperscale Data Receives Utility "Will Serve" Determination for Approximately 125 Additional Megawatts at One of its Montana Sites
Hyperscale Data moved its Montana expansion forward after receiving a utility “will serve” determination for roughly 125 additional megawatts at one of its sites, following completion of a load study. The company, whose shares trade on the NYSE American under GPUS, said its indirect wholly owned subsidiary BNI Montana, LLC received the formal letter from the Lower Yellowstone Rural Electric Cooperative. Hyperscale Data currently operates about 10 MW at the Montana facility supporting Bitcoin mining operations and also holds land leases for a second Montana location about 15 miles away, with the ability to operate roughly 10 MW.
The “will serve” letter indicates up to approximately 125 MW of additional power may be potentially available, subject to engineering studies, transmission and distribution upgrades, interconnection requirements, regulatory approvals, construction milestones, commercial arrangements, and other development activities. No estimates or timelines were provided for those improvements, except that one required transmission line is already being pursued with completion targeted for 2031. Hyperscale said it will proceed with the next phase of evaluation for development based on the letter’s terms, citing strategic long-term opportunities for power-intensive infrastructure supporting Bitcoin mining, AI, cloud, and high-performance computing.
