Meta debuts Muse, its long-planned personal AI agent
Meta has debuted Muse, a long-planned personal AI agent pushed by CEO Mark Zuckerberg as a next step toward “personal superintelligence.” The system, available in the U.S. at launch, lives in a chat-style interface where users can name the agent, create an avatar, and customize how it communicates. Muse is designed to be more proactive and longer-running than typical chatbots, running on a dedicated virtual machine in Meta’s cloud with a built-in, user-visible browser. Users get a free tier plus subscriptions at $20/month and $100/month. Meta says Muse has no in-app ads, but is exploring commerce opportunities. It also plans a confidential version before year-end, and uses “Sentinel” to control what internet and connected-service actions are allowed.
