Packers OT Zach Tom changing name to Zach Bako-Bewele

Green Bay Packers offensive tackle Zach Tom will change the last name on his uniform for the 2026 season to Zach Bako-Bewele. The new surname combines the last names of two grandparents from Nigeria, using “Bako” from his father’s mom and “Bewele” from his father’s dad, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN. The change is already active on the team’s website and in the Packers locker room. Matt Schneidman of The Athletic notes that Bako-Bewele became the full-time right tackle starter during his first four seasons in Green Bay, signed an $88 million contract extension, and is considered one of the league’s top players at the position. After an injury-riddled 2025 season, he reported healthy at training camp.
