Prince Harry, Elton seek to appeal privacy lawsuit
Prince Harry, singer Elton John and other high-profile figures are asking permission to appeal after a London High Court dismissed their privacy lawsuits against Associated Newspapers, publisher of the Daily Mail. The claimants—including Harry—had accused journalists of commissioning private investigators to carry out unlawful information-gathering between 1993 and 2011. In July, the High Court rejected the cases and later warned the claimants could face even higher legal costs due to how they pursued the litigation. In a Friday statement, a lawyer for six of the plaintiffs said they applied to appeal the dismissal and the indemnity costs order, arguing the decisions were legally and factually flawed. There was no comment from Harry or Associated Newspapers.
