Raye calls out AI bots for flooding 1.8 million sign-ups for a 5,000-seat show
British singer-songwriter Raye said the sign-up process for her October show at London’s Royal Albert Hall was flooded by “hundreds of thousands” of AI bots, even though only 5,000 seats were available. Citing the BBC, the artist said ticket touts used AI bots to target registrations for her one-off performance. Instead of a pre-sale format she believed scalpers could exploit, her team manually reviewed the sign-up list to identify people they considered real fans, extending pre-sale codes by email, while remaining tickets went to general sale. Overall, there were 1.8 million sign-ups for 5,000 tickets, many reportedly fake. A Royal Albert Hall spokesperson said the venue already works to protect ticketing from automated attacks and called for laws to catch up.
