Samsung to inject $1 billion into Nvidia- and KKR-backed AI infrastructure firm
Samsung Electronics and its affiliates will invest a combined $1 billion in Helix Digital Infrastructure, a company launched by KKR and backed by Nvidia. Samsung will provide $500 million, with Samsung C&T, Samsung SDS, Samsung SDI, Samsung Life Insurance and Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance funding the remainder. Helix targets AI infrastructure across hyperscale data centers, power generation, and fiber-optic networks, aiming to address intensifying competition in the AI infrastructure market. The company, launched in June and led by Adam Selipsky, former CEO of Amazon Web Services, also looks to cover the power and networking backbone needed to support AI growth. Founding investors include KKR, the Kuwait Investment Authority, Nvidia and U.S. power firm Vistra, alongside KKR’s stated commitment of more than $10 billion already allocated to Helix. Samsung said the deal will accelerate global data-center rollout and deepen collaboration.
