Save-On-Foods rewards system breached by hackers
xCruzo Brief
Save-On-Foods says hackers breached a server tied to its “More Rewards” loyalty program, prompting thousands of customers to receive notices. The company, part of Pattison Food Group (which also owns Buy-Low Foods, Choices Markets, Nature’s Fare Markets, Nesters Market and Urban Fare), detected unauthorized activity on Tuesday and shut down the server the same day, launching an investigation with a third-party cybersecurity firm. In an email sent Friday night, it confirmed that names and, if provided, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses and dates of birth were accessed. The company said no passwords, credit card data or transaction history were obtained and warned customers about phishing requests for sensitive information.
