Scott Dixon leaving Chip Ganassi Racing after 25 years
Six-time IndyCar champion and 2008 Indianapolis 500 winner Scott Dixon is leaving Chip Ganassi Racing after 25 years, the team announced Thursday. Dixon will complete his 25th and final season with CGR, which began in CART’s PacWest Racing in 2001, and he has 57 wins for the team, with 58 career wins ranking second in IndyCar history behind AJ Foyt. Chip Ganassi said Dixon informed the team he will not return in 2027, and that CGR made him a multi-year offer to allow him to finish his career with the organization. The statement clarified Dixon is not retiring and is expected to pursue other IndyCar opportunities, with speculation pointing to Arrow-McLaren. Dixon’s last IndyCar championship came in 2020; teammate Alex Palou has won four titles and leads the standings through 10 races in 2026.
