Trump vows to form "AI Force," says he won't allow slowdown of AI development
President Trump announced on Saturday that he will form an “AI Force,” dismissing negative sentiment about AI data centers and warnings from industry leaders. In a post on Truth Social, he called fears that AI could become a superintelligence that threatens human existence a hoax. Trump vowed that the U.S. will not hinder AI’s growth, saying the justice system already provides safeguards, while officials would look for “BAD” uses through existing criminal and civil legal tools. He described AI as the next Industrial Revolution or Internet, adding it could reach up to 25% of the country’s GDP as the U.S. races against China. Alongside the new AI Force, he said he will soon appoint an “AI Czar,” after David Sacks—previously named White House A.I. & Crypto Czar in December 2024—stepped down in March 2026.
