Two Men Plead Guilty To TfL Hack | Silicon UK Tech News
Two men pleaded guilty to hacking Transport for London (TfL) after a summer 2024 incident that the article says caused months of disruption and cost TfL an estimated £39 million. The defendants are Thalha Jubair, 20, from east London, and Owen Flowers, 18, from Walsall in the West Midlands. They were scheduled for a six-week trial at Woolwich Crown Court, but changed their pleas on the first day, on Monday. Both admitted to conspiring under the Computer Misuse Act, pleading guilty based on recklessly accessing TfL systems without intending to do so. Flowers also pleaded guilty to an attempted hack involving two US healthcare firms, Sutter Health in California and SSM Healthcare Corporation in St Louis. The National Crime Agency said they communicated via Telegram and a shared workspace app, and Flowers allegedly accessed a platform selling stolen credentials. The TfL attack on 31 August 2024 was thought to be carried out by the English-speaking group Scattered Spider.
