Visa Lets Banks Access Its In-House Cybersecurity Capabilities | PYMNTS.com
Visa will let banks access its Visa Threat Intelligence Platform (VTIP), which draws on the same cybersecurity capabilities Visa uses to protect its network. VTIP is designed to unify cyber and fraud intelligence, reflecting Visa’s view that fraud often follows earlier cyber incidents such as data compromise, credential theft, or system exploitation before a transaction begins. Visa said it blocks about 90 million cyberattacks and 11 million phishing emails per month, and that VTIP brings that intelligence to financial-sector customers. The platform includes Threat Intelligence, Vulnerability Intelligence, Brand Intelligence, Digital Identity Intelligence, and Financial Intelligence, the last of which identifies compromised payment credentials on the dark web and enriches them with VisaNet insights for fraud and risk teams. Visa executive James Mirfin said fraud has become an “economy,” and that AI tools, deepfakes, and voice cloning can expand and professionalize scams.
