Active-duty military spouses detained amid Trump's deportation campaign

A U.S. Army sergeant said his wife, Cristy Maryori Villafranca Trejo, was detained and removed from a deportation flight to Honduras early Tuesday, hours after a call at 3:40 a.m. from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Turcios reported staying on the phone with an ICE officer and sending documents showing Villafranca’s immigration case was still pending; she was then returned to Camp East Montana, the detention center at Fort Bliss, Texas. An advocacy group says more than 50 military spouses and parents have been swept up in President Donald Trump’s deportation campaign, with at least six deported, according to the Associated Press. The Department of Homeland Security did not comment.
