Book Review: Never Say Die by Ke Huy Quan " American Greatness

A review of Ke Huy Quan’s memoir, Never Say Die, highlights the actor’s comeback story and the personal history behind it. The piece recalls Quan’s role as Data in The Goonies, then notes that after disappearing from Hollywood for years, he returned in 2023 with Everything Everywhere All at Once, where he won multiple awards during the season. The reviewer frames the book as an antidote to the “missed potential” that often follows former child stars. Never Say Die begins with Quan’s family fleeing Vietnam amid a crackdown on the Chinese community, including time in a jail cell during the escape, followed by life as a refugee in Hong Kong and later in the United States.
