Hungerford's John O'Gaunt School in school rebuilding programme
xCruzo Brief
John O’Gaunt School in Hungerford, Berkshire, is set for a full rebuild under the government’s school rebuilding programme, with new buildings expected to be in place by 2030. The school initially bid to replace its sports hall and one block, but surveys across the site showed the entire complex needed replacement. The school, which has around 440 pupils, dates its current buildings to 1962–1963, and head teacher Richard Hawthorne said the issues uncovered included collapsed drains and managed asbestos. The main hall is out of action while ceiling maintenance and roofing work are carried out. Replacement work is due to start in spring 2028.
