New Hollywood Burbank Airport terminal opens. Here's what travelers should know
xCruzo Brief
Hollywood Burbank Airport opened a new passenger terminal Tuesday, replacing decades-old facilities after a nearly $1.3 billion project. The airport says the new terminal, a 355,000-square-foot building located on the opposite side of the airfield, replaces an existing 232,000-square-foot complex while keeping the airport’s 14 gates. Officials cite expanded security screening areas, more passenger amenities, and a new parking structure. The terminal also changes access: the main entrance moves to Winona Avenue and Hollywood Way instead of off Thornton Avenue, valet relocates, Lot E closes permanently, and rideshare pick-ups shift to a new lot near the terminal. Ground began in January 2024, with a Sept. 19 trial using 1,500 volunteers.
