New York Film Festival unveils lineup to main slate. James Gray opens and Ava DuVernay closes

The New York Film Festival has revealed the main slate for its 64th edition, with 32 films playing at Film at Lincoln Center from Sept. 25 to Oct. 12. James Gray’s “Paper Tiger,” a crime drama set in Queens starring Adam Driver and Miles Teller, opens the festival. Ava DuVernay’s “14th,” a documentary about a contested constitutional amendment and a follow-up in spirit to “13th,” will close the event. Tony Gilroy’s “Behemoth!” premieres as a centerpiece gala and stars Pedro Pascal as a cellist. The lineup also includes works from directors such as Pedro Almodóvar, Ryusuke Hamaguchi and Radu Jude, plus Takashi Yamazaki’s “Godzilla Minus Zero” set for a world premiere Sept. 26.
