Mamdani's 3 lofty plans to make New York City housing more affordable

Mamdani's Block by Block plan was released May 26 by the city's mayor, outlining three approaches to make housing more affordable. It also proposes using public land, such as Sunnyside Yards, to create a connected neighborhood.

It also envisions converting some commercial buildings into apartments through zoning revisions, aided by state and federal changes that would permit more development.
