Andy Reid is bringing Kansas City Chiefs rookies and quarterbacks to Missouri Western State University for early work again, reversing his recent habit of arriving a few days later during training camp. The change comes after the Chiefs collapsed to a 6-11 record last season and dealt with major roster and injury problems, including a season-altering knee injury to quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Reid’s three-day session continued Sunday with heat indexes above 100 degrees. Mahomes has been cleared this past week to fully participate after December surgery to repair torn knee ligaments, while Justin Fields, acquired from the Jets, is set as the veteran backup and Garrett Nussmeier is the young project QB. Kansas City also expects significant early contributions from rookies such as cornerback Mansoor Delane.
