Trump says 'we should stop' Utah mail-in voting
President Donald Trump said on Thursday that Utah should “stop” moving toward all-mail voting for its primaries next week, arguing the state is heading toward a model like Colorado. In a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed—without providing evidence—that vote-by-mail would give Democrats a chance to cheat, and urged that “we should stop Utah” from adopting the format. Utah’s Republican lieutenant governor, Deidre Henderson, said more than 90% of Utah voters already choose to vote by mail and described the system as secure, adding that it has improved participation rates. The Utah Democratic Party opposed any federal rollback, calling Trump’s remarks “insulting.” Trump earlier signed an executive order tightening national mail-in rules and directed the Justice Department to investigate alleged irregularities in Maryland’s mailout of 500,000 ballots.
