IATA has launched the Save a Life, Not a Bag campaign to discourage passengers from leaving baggage behind during evacuations. The group notes evacuations for aircraft with more than 44 seats must occur within 90 seconds, and lingering for luggage can cost lives. In May, Frontier Airlines faced a widely shared evacuation video showing passengers retrieving belongings. IATA also reported that about 80% of passengers know what to do in an emergency, yet only 61% say they would leave items behind.
