Blue Angels, parking changes take center stage at GJ Airshow

The Grand Junction Regional Airport will host its first airshow since 2023 on Oct. 3-4, but organizers are emphasizing one change for attendees: no public parking within nearly a mile of the airport. After the 2023 event left traffic backed up on Horizon Drive for more than two hours, ticket buyers will have to reserve spots in designated parking lots, then use shuttle buses—56 in total—during the weekend. Organizers say the plan should cut waiting times and reduce conflicts with regular air travelers for nearby parking. A small on-site lot will remain for VIPs, sponsors, vendors, airport and airshow staff, and some volunteers. Enforcement will include tow truck support, fines, and traffic control officers, while regular airport customers keep access to the main parking areas. The Blue Angels are slated as the featured U.S. Navy demonstration flight.
