Killed after 2 glider planes collide in upstate New York, police say

New York State Police said one person died after two glider aircraft collided mid-air in upstate New York on Friday afternoon. Officers were notified of the incident at about 2:26 p.m. Investigators later located wreckage in a remote area off Sand Lake Road in Edinburg, Saratoga County, a little over two hours after the call. Police reported that one glider landed safely at Plateau Sky Ranch Airport, and its pilot was not injured. The second plane had only one person on board, and that pilot was found deceased at the crash site. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board were notified, and the investigation is ongoing.
