Blue Ridge man charged with murder in church shooting - Now Georgia
A Blue Ridge man has been charged with murder in connection with a fatal church shooting in Fannin County, Georgia. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Friday that 29-year-old Nicholas Rogers, of Blue Ridge, was arrested and charged with felony murder and aggravated assault for the death of 29-year-old Austin Teems, also of Blue Ridge. According to the GBI, Fannin County 911 received a report of a shooting in the early morning hours of Thursday, June 25, at Bethel Baptist Church in McCaysville. Deputies with the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office found Teems suffering apparent gunshot wounds and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Rogers was taken into custody at the scene, and his booking occurred in the Fannin County Jail. Authorities say the investigation remains active and ongoing.
