A Blue Ridge man faces a murder charge after a fatal shooting outside a church in Fannin County, Georgia, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The GBI said Friday that Nicholas Rogers, 29, of Blue Ridge, was arrested and charged with felony murder and aggravated assault in connection with the death of 29-year-old Austin Teems, also of Blue Ridge. Investigators said Fannin County 911 received a report of a shooting in the early morning hours of Thursday, June 25, at Bethel Baptist Church in McCaysville. Deputies from the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office arrived and found Teems suffering apparent gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said Rogers was taken into custody at the scene. Teems’ body will go to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy, and Rogers was booked into the Fannin County Jail. The case remains active and ongoing.
