Bomb hoax diverts Austrian Airlines flight from Israel to Bulgaria
xCruzo Brief
An Austrian Airlines flight carrying 57 people was diverted from Tel Aviv to Vienna to Sofia after a bomb threat was reported late Sunday, according to the airline and Bulgaria’s BTA news agency. In a statement Monday, Austrian Airlines confirmed a threat against flight OS82 on Oct. 18 from Tel Aviv to Vienna required an intermediate landing in Sofia. During searches of the aircraft, passengers, and crew, no danger was found, and the flight continued to Vienna after passengers reboarded. BTA reported that the crew received the threat while approaching the Romanian border and that the Bulgarian Air Force scrambled MiG-29 jets. The incident came under three weeks after an alleged axe attack attempt on a flydubai flight bound for Israel.
