Brad Pitt's children use newspaper ads to announce they're ditching his surname
Brad Pitt’s children use newspaper ads to announce they're ditching his surname as Zahara, 21, and Maddox, 24, seek legal name changes that remove “Pitt” from their last name. The filings were reported with reference to court documents obtained by the Daily Mail, indicating both siblings published notices in the Los Angeles Daily Journal during June and July. The ads state they “filed a petition with this court for a decree changing names as follows,” with Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt to become Zahara Marley Jolie, and Maddox to use Maddox Chivan Jolie instead of the double-barreled Jolie-Pitt. In California, such advertisements are presented as a legal requirement, allowing objections ahead of final hearings. Dates listed in the notices are September 24 for Zahara and September 14 for Maddox. The report also notes that Shiloh’s earlier petition to drop Pitt was approved by a judge.
