Delta Air Lines' Boeing 757 Fleet Fell From 127 To 83 & Some Retired Jets Became Spare Parts

Delta Air Lines has cut its Boeing 757 fleet from 127 aircraft in October 2023 to 83 by February 2026, a reduction of 44 planes (about 35%). The drawdown doesn’t mean every retired jet is scrapped. Some withdrawn 757s have been sent to Blytheville, Arkansas, where usable parts—such as engines, landing gear and avionics—can be harvested to support the remaining fleet. Delta’s 757s, including 67 -200s and 16 -300s, still play a role on domestic trunk routes, transcontinental services and select international sectors. Globally, 436 757s were active in February 2026, with more than 60% in freighter use.
