Deputy fatally shoots armed Watkinsville man during welfare check - Now Georgia
Deputies in Watkinsville, Georgia, were responding to a welfare check when an officer-involved shooting left a man dead, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is now leading the inquiry. The GBI said 43-year-old Michael Randolph Frohock was shot and killed on Friday evening. Investigators reported the call began around 7:22 p.m. on June 25, after Oconee County E-911 received a report of a suicidal man armed with a knife. Deputies from the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office approached Frohock after arriving at a residence on Friar Road. During the encounter, Frohock displayed a firearm and at least one deputy fired, striking him. No deputies were injured. Frohock was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body will be taken for an autopsy at the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office.
