Exclusive | Jets quarterback Geno Smith stopped by cops for third time in three months: 'That's too fast'
New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith had another police encounter in Florida, marking a third stop by the Davie Police Department within three months. The latest incident occurred at 11:20 a.m. on July 6, when Smith was accused of driving 25 mph over the speed limit near his residence in Davie. Body-camera footage cited by The California Post shows an officer telling Smith his “Beautiful car” was speeding, noting that the pace was too fast for a 45 mph zone. Smith said he did not have his license with him and that it was at home, adding the vehicle belonged to a friend. He received two citations for unlawful speed and for not carrying his license. The case follows earlier disputes in April over alleged improper tags on a Rolls Royce and a separate episode in which officers went to his home after a woman alleged he “beat me up,” later reopened and still under investigation. Smith has not commented publicly.
