FAA issues temporary no-drone zone over Piedmont Park for final FIFA World Cup watch party

The FAA is issuing a temporary no-drone zone over Piedmont Park in Atlanta to support security operations for a FIFA World Cup watch party on Sunday, July 19. With thousands of soccer fans expected to gather, the restriction runs from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. It prohibits unauthorized aircraft, including recreational and commercial drones, within a half-nautical-mile radius of the park’s center unless the FAA grants specific authorization. The agency has implemented similar temporary “No Drone Zones” around World Cup stadiums, fan events and team facilities nationwide. Drone pilots are responsible for checking airspace restrictions before each flight. Violations can trigger federal enforcement, civil penalties, and possible seizure of aircraft.
