French Startup Aura Aero Reveals CCA Ambitions | Aviation Week

Aura Aero of Toulouse disclosed ambitious plans for a collaborative combat aircraft (CCA), aiming for a demonstrator’s first flight in 2028, announced on June 17 at Eurosatory in Paris. The CCA would weigh 3–5 tonnes and reuse Aura’s Enbata MALE UAS avionics and mission systems, with internal weapon bays and a small turbofan engine. Safran and Rolls‑Royce are separately developing compact turbofans for the market. Aura’s existing programs include the Integral R trainer certified in December 2024 and the Era regional airliner due in 2030. The company’s Aura M division targets military applications, following earlier HAPS work redirected by French military interest toward the CCA and MALE projects.
