Inside the airplane 'hospital' maintaining super-jumbo jets
xCruzo Brief
Emirates Engineering, the carrier’s engineering arm based inside Dubai International Airport, maintains wide-body jets in facilities that it’s likened to a “hospital” for aircraft. The double-deck Airbus A380, described as the world’s largest passenger plane, spans about 73 meters long with an 80-meter wingspan and a 24-meter height. Maintenance is supported by multi-level docking platforms arranged around the aircraft fuselage. Those platforms are designed to give technicians access to inspection and repair areas while adjusting to the dimensions of different aircraft types.
