Lil Durk bail hearing leaves one big question
A federal judge in Los Angeles sent rapper Lil Durk back to custody without a decision this week, leaving open whether he can be released before his next trial. U.S. District Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald heard arguments Wednesday, Nov. 4, but deferred a ruling. Durk Banks has been in federal custody since his arrest in October 2024. Although he was acquitted on all counts in his Sept. 11 murder-for-hire trial, other charges were split into a separate case that is still pending. Defense argued for bail, citing support letters and promises to comply with conditions, including a proposal to use his mother’s home and future music royalties as collateral. Prosecutors opposed release, warning he could flee to a country without an extradition agreement and pointing to allegations of contraband and trouble at the Metropolitan Detention Center, where he is reportedly held in solitary confinement after a dispute.
