Only 5 Hours: Inside United Airlines' New Shortest Nonstop Route To Europe [Map]
xCruzo Brief
United Airlines will add its shortest nonstop route to Europe next summer: Newark Liberty (EWR) to Lajes (TER) on Terceira in the Azores. The airline announced the new corridor on Tuesday, with service starting June 9, 2027. Flights will operate three times per week using the Boeing 737 MAX 8, making United the only U.S.-based carrier flying nonstop to Lajes. The eastbound trip is expected to deliver a block time as low as 5 hours and 15 minutes, also the shortest to Europe by distance. Greenland isn’t included in the comparison.
