Ryanair confirms major seating rule change for all flights
xCruzo Brief
Ryanair confirmed it is making a “minor tweak” to its £8 seating policy on all flights, allowing parents to sit alongside their children without paying extra. The change took effect in June, following scrutiny by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) over fees charged to parents who wanted to sit with youngsters during flights. Previously, parents traveling with children aged 2 to 11 had to book a “compulsory family seat,” typically costing around £8 per leg, while children were then assigned nearby seats at no added cost. Under the updated approach, “free parent seats” will be offered toward the back, and families can still choose to reserve seats by paying a fee.
