Sun Country’s continuing flight cuts from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) are expected to reduce options for MEA Weekend travel, the busy two-day October break tied to the Minnesota Education Association/“Education Minnesota.” The airport typically handles about 300,000 to over 310,000 screened passengers during the peak period and schedules roughly 488,000 departing seats for the broader October break, MSP said. But this year, MEA travelers will face about a 20% reduction in available flights from the “Land of 10,000 Lakes,” according to the Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journal. The cuts stem from an internal memo citing higher-than-expected front-line crew attrition plus increased cargo flying.
