Texas Jet Crash: Harrowing First-Hand Account of Passengers Escaping Burning Aircraft

Federal investigators and the FBI are examining the Texas jet crash along Loop 20 in Laredo late Tuesday night, where a private Cessna business jet traveling from Mexico to Austin crashed onto a highway, killing one of six aboard. Bystanders helped evacuate other passengers using a sledgehammer and a shovel to break cockpit glass and pry open doors. The jet lay across the roadway; the tail was torn away, and flames raged as responders helped people escape. Five survivors were hospitalized in stable condition; five first responders were treated for smoke inhalation. Identity of the deceased has not been released.
