The Aircraft Set To Replace Delta Air Lines' Boeing 717s

Delta Air Lines has begun preparing to replace its aging Boeing 717 fleet, keeping in mind that the aircraft is now more than 25 years old. Delta acquired 88 717s on long-term lease from Southwest in 2012 and has operated them for 14 years, along with Hawaiian Airlines as another operator in the U.S. The airline originally announced retirement plans in 2020, but delivery delays for the Airbus A220 have pushed the timeline back. Delta is now relying on the A220 family, first received in 2018 and entering commercial service in 2019, to handle regional and short-hop routes efficiently.
