The Airlines Selling Main Cabin Beds For A Fraction Of Business Class Fares
xCruzo Brief
Airlines are increasingly offering lie-flat “beds” in main cabins at prices far below business class, aiming to capture passengers who want rest without premium fares. The concept typically repurposes existing economy seat rows of three or four, converting them into a single bed using products such as mattresses, bedding, and specialist leg rests that fold up at a 90-degree angle. The trade-off is that onboard service usually remains closer to standard economy. The idea is not new: Air New Zealand’s Skycouch, launched in the early 2010s, bundled three seats from window to aisle for use as a bed for one, two, or even three people when traveling with a young child.
