Ukraine launches more than 1,000 drones at Russia as spat between Trump and Zelenskyy continues
Ukraine launched more than 1,000 drones at Russia in one of the war’s largest aerial attacks, while strikes set an oil export terminal and an oil depot ablaze in St. Petersburg on Sunday. The intensified action coincided with deepening tensions between Kyiv and Washington, as U.S. President Donald Trump criticized Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil infrastructure and signaled uncertainty about further U.S. sanctions. Trump said he decided to delay new sanctions to avoid pushing Russia “away from the bargaining table,” and defended a Friday waiver that prevents additional sanctions from being imposed amid bipartisan criticism. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded that lifting sanctions would strengthen Putin’s war effort and said intelligence sharing with the U.S. resumed.
