Wife of man who died after turbulence sues airline

Linda Kitchen, 74, has filed High Court proceedings against Singapore Airlines after her husband Geoff Kitchen, 73, died following “severe turbulence” on a flight from London Heathrow. Her lawyers say the aircraft suddenly dropped about 6,000 ft (1,828 metres) over Myanmar in May 2024, causing Geoff to be “fatally injured” and leaving Linda with a broken back. The flight diverted to Bangkok, Thailand, for an emergency landing. According to Kitchen, when she was separated from Geoff she realized he was badly hurt; she said CPR was started on board while she was taken to hospital. She was told two days later that he had died, and she spent 10 days in hospital before returning to Bristol for recovery.
