Williston to Minneapolis flights end Sept. 7
Flights between Williston, North Dakota and Minneapolis/St. Paul will end Sept. 7, Delta Air Lines said, closing a nearly 14-year service from Williston Basin International Airport. Delta Connection flights operated with SkyWest are scheduled to stop after Dec. and ongoing route support efforts, according to local officials. Williston City Administrator Shawn Wenko said the city was disappointed by Delta’s departure while thanking partners for years of collaboration. Airport Director Ryan O’Rear said the final decision came after five years of attempts, including a Minimum Revenue Guarantee (MRG) to offset losses while demand rebuilt after Delta suspended service in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. The renewed MRG approved in December 2025 runs from Jan. 1 through November and covers up to $2.7 million in costs. O’Rear cited early 2026 load factors of just over 50%, improving recently, with year-to-date around 64%, leaving roughly 36% of seats unsold. United remains the strongest carrier to Denver, with 66,998 enplanements in 2025 out of 102,841 total.
