Canaan man charged with manslaughter in boating death of Skowhegan man

A Canaan man, Charles J. Frost, 22, was arrested and charged in connection with a boating death on the Kennebec River on July 4 in Skowhegan. Court records state he faces one Class A count of manslaughter and one Class C count of operating a watercraft under the influence causing death. A warrant was issued Tuesday and Frost was taken into custody Wednesday, held as of Thursday at the Somerset County Jail in Madison on $5,000 cash bail. Prosecutors must seek a grand jury indictment. Investigators said Frost drove a 2006 Lund boat from which Jakub Prokop, 21, was ejected; Prokop was not wearing a life jacket.
