Child rescued from river following boat incident
A child was rescued from the River Severn in Shropshire following reports that someone entered the water from a boat, Bridgnorth Police said. Emergency services were called to a section of the river near the Knowle Sands Caravan Park, earlier on Sunday. Police said the child was safely rescued on the arrival of responders, crediting the “quick and decisive actions” of family members and the public. The force thanked those involved for their “swift intervention” while also issuing a reminder to take care around open water during warmer weather. The child was wearing a life preserver, which can reduce risk, but officers noted that “significant dangers still remain.” They also highlighted the rapid response of their officers, Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service, West Midlands Ambulance Service, and Midlands Air Ambulance.
