xCruzo Brief

Yellowstone National Park will lift fishing restrictions on many rivers and streams starting Aug. 12. The limits were put in place on July 29 because low water flows and unusually high temperatures can be lethal to fish. With cooler weather and lower forecast water temperatures, anglers will be allowed to fish daily from sunrise to sunset on most park rivers, streams and lakes, following the 2026 Fishing Regulations booklet. However, full closures on the Madison, Firehole and Gibbon rivers—including the Gibbon downstream of Norris Campground—remain in effect from July 15 until conditions improve. Staff will continue temperature monitoring and may adjust closures if needed.
