GAP Airports reports September traffic down 7.3%
GAP Airports reported September 2026 preliminary passenger traffic results across its 12 Mexican airports. Total traffic fell 6.7% compared with September 2025, with Tijuana, Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos recording declines of 12.1%, 10.4% and 7.5%, respectively. The company attributed the drop mainly to reduced airline seat capacity, particularly in the domestic market. During the final days of September, adverse weather tied to Hurricane Polo affected the Mexican Pacific region and Baja California Sur, partially disrupting operations at Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos. In domestic travel, the biggest decreases were on Puerto Vallarta–Tijuana, Puerto Vallarta–Monterrey, Los Cabos–Guadalajara and Tijuana–Guadalajara. Internationally, the largest declines were on Los Cabos routes to Dallas-Fort Worth, Los Angeles and Phoenix, plus Puerto Vallarta links to San Francisco and Phoenix.
