Poole-Cherbourg Barfleur ferry set for final crossing
xCruzo Brief
Brittany Ferries’ Barfleur, the Poole-to-Cherbourg cross-Channel ship that has sailed from Dorset for more than 30 years, is set for its final crossing on Monday. The vessel is scheduled to leave Poole at 08:30 BST for Cherbourg. Poole Harbour Commissioners said an exclusion zone will be in place around the ferry and that any accompanying small boats must take “extreme caution,” with the sail set to depend on operational factors such as weather. Barfleur will arrive on its last Normandy sailing on Sunday at 21:45 BST. The operator plans to sell Barfleur as it ends the Poole-Cherbourg and Portsmouth-Le Havre routes, citing rising taxes, Covid loan repayments, unfair competition and falling passenger numbers.
