Montana Fishing Report - June 27th
With early summer stabilizing across Montana, anglers are seeing improved fishing conditions as runoff tapers off and some rivers clear. The Missouri, Madison, and Beaverhead are highlighted for consistent trout action, with success reported using caddis, PMDs, and nymph rigs during morning and evening. Some freestone systems are still running high, but smaller lakes are producing strong trout fishing early and late before afternoon heat increases. For warmwater targets, Canyon Ferry is generating walleye results using crawler harnesses and bottom bouncers, while Fort Peck continues to produce walleye, northern pike, and smallmouth bass. The report advises monitoring water temperatures during afternoons and starting early for the best bite, framing summer fishing as fully underway.
